Harry Potter fans, your time is now!  The seventh installment of the Harry Potter films swoops into theaters in the UK this Thursday, November 18th and in the United States at midnight on Friday, November 19th.  ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I’ is sure not to disappoint as the saga continues.  If you’ve missed any of these exciting film adaptations of wildly the popular books written by J.K. Rowling, here’s a recap.

‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ begins with Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) at age eleven.  He is an orphaned boy being raised by his unpleasant aunt and uncle, but one day a half-giant called Rubeus Hagrid informs Harry that he is actually a wizard whose parents were murdered by the dark wizard, Lord Voldemort.  Voldemort also attempted to kill one-year old Harry on the same night, but his killing curse mysteriously rebounded and reduced Voldemort to a weak and helpless form.  Harry is an extremely famous wizard because of his uncanny survival skills and so, with some help from Hagrid, he ventures into the Wizarding World.  There he begins his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he learns about magic along with new friends Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson).  During the school year, the three friends get mixed up in the mystery of the Sorcerer’s Stone which is rumored to be hidden at Hogwarts.

In ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ Harry, Ron and Hermione’s second year in school proves to be more trying than the year before.   The Chamber of Secrets has been opened, leaving students and ghosts terrified by an unleashed monster. Harry must defend claims that he is the heir of Salazar Slytherin, dark wizard who founded the chamber.  He also learns that he can speak Parseltongue, the language of the snakes that is often associated with dark magic, and discovers the contents of a mysterious diary only to find himself trapped within the Chamber of Secrets itself.

‘Harry potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ follows Harry and his friends through their third year at Hogwarts.  Professor R. J. Lupin joins the staff as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, while convicted murderer, Sirius Black escapes an Azkaban Prison.  The Ministry of Magic entrusts the Dementors, soulless creatures considered to be among the foulest on earth, of Azkaban to guard Hogwarts from Black.  In the midst of the terror in Hogwarts’ atmosphere, Harry discovers that Black is after him.  Now must figure out a method of defeating him while dodging obstacles along the way.

Harry’s fourth year at Hogwarts plays out in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’.  At Hogwarts, headmaster Albus Dumbledore introduces Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.  What he doesn’t know is Barty Crouch Jr., one of the Death Eaters working for Harry’s arch nemesis Voldermort,  has previously subdued Moody and is now using Polyjuice Potion to impersonate him.  Meanwhile, Hogwarts host the annual Triwizard Tournament where three European schools participate, each selecting a “champion” to represent them while competing in dangerous tasks.  The Goblet of Fire chooses Fleur Delacour, Viktor Krum and Cedric Diggory to go up against each other.  However, even though he hadn’t entered himself into the contest, Harry’s name was produced from the Goblet making him a fourth champion.  Now Harry will have to battle his way through terrifying encounters in the competition of his life.

In ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ the Ministry of Magic appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dolores Umbridge.  Umbridge is a senior Ministry official who refuses to train her students in practical magic, so a group of the students gather together to try and learn on their own.  Of course, Harry becomes the leader of this group as they secretly meet in a hidden room to prepare themselves for a battle with the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters.  The students know that Lord Voldemort has arrived.  However, the Ministry of Magic is doing every thing they can to keep that secret under wraps.

Harry is in his sixth year at Hogwarts in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ and Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters are increasing their terror upon the Wizarding and Muggle worlds.  Headmaster Albus Dumbledore persuades his old friend and colleague, Horace Slughorn, to return to Hogwarts as a professor because there is a vacancy to fill.  However, Dumbledore has an ulterior motive for Slughorn’s return.  While in a Potions lesson, Harry takes possession of a strangely annotated school textbook, inscribed ‘This is the property of the Half-Blood Prince’, which contains some astonishing information. Meanwhile, Dumbledore and Harry secretly work together to discover the method on how to destroy Voldemort once and for all.   Amongst the chaos at Hogwarts, romance and hormones lurk within the castle’s walls all year.  Love is in the air, but danger lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same.

The newest installment of the Harry Potter films is ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I’.  After some unexpected events at the end of the previous year, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are entrusted with a quest to find and destroy Lord Voldemort’s secret to immortality, the Horcruxes.  It is supposed to be their final year at Hogwarts, but the collapse of the Ministry of Magic and Voldemort’s rise to power prevents them from attending. The trio undergo a long adventure with many obstacles in their path including Death Eaters, Snatchers, the mysterious Deathly Hallows while Harry’s connection with the Dark Lord’s mind becomes ever stronger.
